Hello Prajwal Sir,

We are using SCCM Current Branch 2211 version in our organization to update our MS Windows clients and servers with the latest patches.
We have a remote site in another city, so we decided to add Distribution Point in our setup due to bandwidth issues.
The distribution Point was installed successfully, and we distributed the content to the DP and DP received it.
Question:
  • Our Distribution Point clients are unable to get updates from DP.
  • I have attached SCCM & DP boundary groups detail, along with Role base installation screenshots for the information.
Thanks & Regards,
Kamran Ali

First, I make a software update group in the main SCCM and distribute the deployment package to the Distribution Point, and the packages are distributed successfully.

Last I deployed MS office patches on 24-Februrary 2023 and till now DP clients are unable to get updates but my main SCCM clients are getting updates successfully.

How are you deploying the updates?. How long have you waited after deploying the updates?
  • First, I create a SUG and distribute it to the distribution point.
  • After the successful distribution of the package on the DP site.
  • I right-click on SUG and click on Deploy, for the device collection I select the collection of all the domain systems (Including the DP client) and deploy it.
I didn't segregate the device collection for DP clients.

Review the logs to see what is going one. Make sure that you are ONLY using IP Ranges for your boundaries.

Hello Sir,
This is to inform you that, I have set my boundaries more precisely and uninstalled MP and bits role on DP.

I have deployed MS Office patches in the last month and checked DP client systems, systems were updated successfully.

只是想确认,当我检查了Deployments status under monitoring, all DP clients are showing in Unknown whereas primary clients updated then these are reflected in compliant.
Please guide.

  • Dear Prajwal Sir,
  • Please clear up one thing!
  • I have a system collection of Windows 10. And in this collection, I have added all primary and DP Windows 10 systems.

  • When I deploy patches and select Collection then, I choose Windows 10 system Collection (All primary and DP Windows 10 clients have already been added to this collection).

  • My question is:
  • Should we make two types of systems collections, one for the primary location and one for the DP location?

  • If yes, should we deploy two times deployment:

  • When I will deploy patches for the primary location then, I will select the primary system collection.
  • And when I deploy patches for the DP location then, I will select the DP system collection.

  • Is that the correct way? Please guide.
